About the Founder & NAS

Founder NAS/WASO Mr. Silvio Morelli says;

The National All Styles (NAS) started off as a small Victorian martial arts tournament and has now grown into one of the most successful and professional tournament circuits in the Australia today. It began with the simple idea of bringing all styles of martial arts together in a friendly tournament.

38 years later the National All Styles is one of the biggest and most professional martial art tournament circuit in the Southern hemisphere.  With tournament circuits in every capital city of Australia as well as a number of regional areas, with over 5000 competitors annually as well as the vast number of different martial art organisations competing in the NAS such as Kung Fu, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Silat, Hapkido, Tai Chi to name just a few is a statement of the popularity and success of the NAS circuit.  Men, women and children of all different martial arts backgrounds have competed in this most unbiased and non-restrictive ALL STYLES event.

One of our core strengths of the NAS is the fact that it is not a tournament run by any Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu or any particular style, rather it is run by ALL STYLES.  Our strength lies in the fact that we are guided by what the martial arts public on the whole wants from a tournament, Professionalism, great sportsmanship and being non-bias

NAS has forms, point fighting, continuous sparring, team sparring, demonstrations and weaponry in an exciting range of categories for all ages and experience levels. Reports from all NAS tournaments are featured in Australasia's premier martial arts magazine, Blitz, with photos, reports and ratings for competitors from each event.

ARB – Australian Referees Board Seminar / Tournament Officials Manual

Transferring the NAS to its new owners

 Mr. Silvio Morelli, President/Founder, handed over the National All Styles competition circuit to the new CEO NAS/WASO owners in 2016. Mr. James Casey and Mrs. Virginia Casey have been friends and business partners for 25 years. Mr.Jim Casey met Mr.Silvio Morelli for the first time in 1993 at the K1 Spectacular in Tokyo, Japan, where he was refereeing a full contact karate battle between two top martial artists. Nobuaki Kakuda and Andy Hug. Over the weekend, Silvio and I explored whether Virginia and I would be interested in joining National All Styles as directors. The rest of the story is history.
