Competitor – Profile
NAME: Karl Jensen age 23
STYLE: Shota Kan Goju and Muay Thai
How long have you trained? I have been training with White Tiger since March 7th 2011
Where do you train? White Tiger Combined Martial Arts at Sailsbury and Mawson Lakes in SA.
Can you tell us what you like about the NAS competition? I like the fact that people from many different styles all get to compete in the one tournament. It's a good chance to test what I have learned at White Tiger against competitors from other styles.
Best moment/memory in competition with the NAS? Getting that first fight out the way and getting rid of those pre fight nerves. Not getting eliminated in my first fight. Hopefully there will be many more memories in the future.
Have you a favorite technique in competition? Being my first NAS I haven't worked out much of a game plan yet. I just tried to execute what my Sensei and I have been working on in training at our Dojo. Hit them and don't let them hit you.
Favorite martial artist... Anderson Silva. He is a very well rounded fighter. He has trained in many different styles and is a very confident fighter. If I could one day be 5% as good as him I would be happy.
What are your future goals in the NAS? My future goals are to keep training and competing in the NAS tournaments so I can keep testing myself and my style against many of the other competitors. Maybe one day I will get to take home some gold for my club.
