Martial art schools from all over SA, some having to travel a good 4 hours to attend the 2011 State Titles at Campbelltown Leisure Centre Adelaide. The tournament proved to be an intense one, with all attending hoping to qualify for State team selection to represent their State at the 2011 National championships being held in December on the Gold Coast, Queensland

Competitors were ready early for a busy day of NAS competition. After some acknowledgements and a quick talk from the SA Director the competition was underway. Seven competitors contested the junior creative demonstration/weapons event to start the day on ring three while other juniors started competitions on the other two rings. An impressively synchronised demonstration of forms from four Go Kan Ryu juniors (Demi Harford, Lucille Lott, Jasmine Harford and Jason Spiteri) won them first place ahead of Caleb Whetton (Zanshin Freestyle Karate) and Malik Bouloufa (Karate Jitsu) providing solid displays of weapons with a Bo and Numchucks. All competitors went on to place well in the Sparring and continuous events that followed.

­Despite the cold morning, competitors appeared full of enthusiasm as they warmed up for the day's events. After a welcome from the South Australian State Director Mr Nick De Cristofaro, competition on all three rings got off to a flying start with weapons demonstrations and some of the younger competitors.

­The buzz anticipation at the beginning of the day was an indication of what was to come. All competitors came to the tournament eager to win a trophy. A high level of competitiveness was the order of the day with many rounds going down to extra time to gain a result.
